THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 13 Jun 1985: “Lillye Burton, wife of the late A.H. Burton, 2185 E. Cherry, died Monday evening at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, 13 Jun 1985, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard Kelly officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. She was born 6 Aug 1900, in Bogata, a daughter of F. M. Mitchell and Ada Douglas Mitchell. She attended public schools in Detroit. She married A. [Albert] H. Burton 22 Sep 1920. He preceded her in death 13 Nov 1976. They lived in Red River County until World War II, when they moved to Paris. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church and the Lily Jefferies Sunday School class. She was a charter member of the Shiloh Luncheon Club. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Hursulene and Robert E. Crumley of San Antonio; five sisters, Nola Lee of Bogata, Maude Legate of Fulbright, Beulah Ponder of Clarksville, Opal Smith of Commerce and Edith Benham of Garland; four brothers, Clyde Mitchell of Bogata, Doug Mitchell of Clarksville, Jim Mitchell of Olympia, Wash., and Albert Mitchell Scroggins; two sister-in-law, Mattie Fairclo of Fort Worth and Dona Burton of Fort Worth.”
