THE PARIS NEWS, 3 Jun 1963: 'Erice Burroughs, manager of Staples Jewelry Store, 6 Clarksville St., died unexpectedly Monday about 3:15 a.m. in the Sanitarium of Paris. He was admitted to the hospital Sunday night, after becoming ill earlier in the day at home, 1845 Clarksville St. Funeral services, Tuesday at 2 p.m. will be held in Gene Roden and Sons chapel by the Rev. James E. Jones, of First Methodist Church. Interment is arranged in Evergreen Cemetery. Surviving are Mrs. Burroughs, the former Miss Mary Staples here; his mother, Mrs. J. W. Burroughs, and these sisters, Mrs. Nate Ensor, Mrs. Opal Mears, Mrs. J. J. Sullins and Mrs. James Hodges, all of Dallas. Born at Leonard, Fannin County, 2 Apr 1900, Walton Erice Burroughs was a son of the late J. W. Burroughs and the former Maude McCarley. He had long been associated with the jewelry business established here by his late father-in-law, W. W. Staples, in 1916. He was a member of the Rotary Club.'
