June 27, 1978; Mrs. W.O. Burns, 91, of 227 NW 13th, died Monday, June 26, 1978 in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 27th at Leverett-Steele-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton Guttierrez officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Mary Annie Freeman Burns was born March 10, 1887, in Alabama, the daughter of Fred Freeman and Amanda Hobbs Freeman. She married W.O. Burns on January 9, 1906 at Atlas, who preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1956. She was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Boyd Burns and Alvie Burns, of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Dee Smith of Route 4, Paris and Mrs. Melvin Cope of Route 5, Paris; three sisters, Mrs. W.E. Daniel of Paris, Mrs. W.E. Vanmeter of Lubbock and Mrs. Alma Sue Summers of Fredericksburg; and 18 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Harold Gene Burns, Ray Burns, Greg Booth, Rusty Burns, Scotty Burns and William Austin cope.
