| Notes Information from Debbie Burks, 3935 Sage Trail, Paris, TX 75460: born 22 Oct 1861 in Madison County, MO., the son of Burrell Gannoway and Sarah Clifton Burks. He married Margaret E. Arnett 21 Dec 1882 in Madison County, MO. He and Margaret were charter members of Oak Grove United Baptist Church in Madison County. He came to Texas from Missouri with his wife and children in a covered wagon, arriving in Paris about 1 Jan 1900. He made his living as a farmer living between Tigertown and Maxey communities. He died in Lamar County. He was a Woodman of the World. Also in the burial records of J.W. Milligan, Pastor of Chicota Baptist Church. Obituary in THE PARIS NEWS, November 11, 1911, says he died of Typhoid fever. |
