THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, March 10, 1986, pg. 2A: "Robert Alvis Burks, 706 E. Washington St, died Sunday, March 9, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Services will be held Tuesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at the Highway Full Gospel Church with the Rev. Dverle Archer officiating. Bright-Holland Funeral Home will make burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and will be at the D.R. Burks home, Rt. 4, Paris. Mr. Burks was born Dec. 28, 1899, in Broadway, a son of Robert Burks and Hattie Fodge Burks. He married Ollie Bell Bailey on Oct. 24, 1920, in Glory. She died Oct. 23, 1973. He was a member of the Highway Full Gospel Church. Surviving are four sons, Vester Burks of Paris, J.R. Burks of Mesquite, D.R. Burks of Paris and Joe Bob Burks of Reno; two daughters, Emma Dale Bratcher of Paris and Virgina Adams of Greenville; two sisters, Myrle Aalen of Paris and Eunie Smith of Paris."
