THE PARIS NEWS Mon., Jan. 17, 1994, p. 10A: "Deport - Allie Burks, 85, of Deport died Sunday, Jan. 16, at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center. Services were scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at the Deport United Methodist Church. Burial was to be in Highland Cemetery by Wood Funeral Home of Deport. Mrs. Burks was born June 14, 1908, in Emory, a daughter of Andrew Jackson and Julia Ann Latimer Counts. She married Claud Burks July 26, 1926. In addition to being a wife and mother, Mrs. Burks was a bookkeeper, working at the Deport Cottin Gin for several years. Surviving are her husband of over 57 years; two daughters, Katherine Wright of Deport and Cindy Burks of Campbell; two sons, Kenneth Burks of Deport and Merle Burks of Reno; a brother, James Counts of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Lee Counts, in 1978."
