THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, December 31, 1934, p. 1: “DEATH CALLS ED BURK HERE. Veteran Furniture Salesman Succumbs to Heart Attack Sunday. Ed Burk furniture salesman here the past 33 years died suddenly of a heart attack about 10:40 o'clock Sunday night at his residence, 154 South Twentieth street. Born in Nacogdoches, he was as a young man, associated with his father in the furniture business there, and coming to Paris in 1910 became associated the following year with the Rodgers-Wade Furniture company, with which he had been ever since. He was married April 20, 1911 to Miss Laura Taylor, who survives him. Funeral services had not been perfected pending location of Mr. Burk's only sister, Mrs. E. E. Dispuke of Mineral Wells, who is touring Mexico. The service, however, will be held by Dr. F. L. Wear, pastor of Central Presbyterian church of which Mr. Burk was a member many years and which he served as the official on various boards. Besides his widow and sister, Mr. Burk leaves these half-brothers and sisters: Gene Burk, Houston; J. W. Burk, Pittsburg, Texas; Mrs. McKnight, Kilgore; Mrs Williamson, Sacul and Mrs. Luke Lucus of Cushing, Okla., and three aunts, Mrs. Lucus of Sacul, Mrs. H. T. Burk and Mrs. Sanders of Nacogdoches.”
