Notes

From an unnamed newspaper obituary clipping from 'The Paris Scrapbook' donated by Skipper Steely; Tuesday, May 23, 1916. 'James Bunch, an old resident of Lamar county, who had lived on Emberson prairie almost continuously about forty years, died at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, R. F. Bunch, 258 West Cherry street after an illness of several months. He lacked four days of being eighty years old. He came to Texas from Missouri in March 1877. He is survived by his wife and five sons and a daughter, three of whom were with him at the time of his death, R. F. Bunch and J. E. Bunch of Paris and Mrs. Laura Manford of California. W. E. Bunch of Longview arrived only a few minutes after his death. The other two sons, S. D. and M. S. Bunch, live at Shamrock. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Little Vine church near Sumner, he having been a very devout and consistent member of that church ever since coming to Texas. The funeral will be conducted by Elder P. D. Ausmus of Milton.'
