Notes

Newspaper and published date is unknown; newspaper clipping in possession of Bruce Medlock: “In Loving Memory - of Madeline Bruce, Paris, Texas; who departed from this life 7:00 o’clock, Monday evening May 9, 1921. How sad, how unreal it seems, our darling Madeline, is dead; but she’s gone to that bright country, where good-bye will never be said. How our hearts were saddened as we gazed on her lifeless face, but how thankful that Jesus had sweetly saved her by His Grace. How glad we are, for her parting words, 'I am ready and willing to go; yes even leave my kindred dear; and all friends I’ve loved below.' In the home Madeline’s left a vacant place how we will miss her from Sunday school, but she’s only been transplanted to heaven, where Christ doth rule. Dear parents, brothers and sisters, We would ask in this sad hour of grief, that you’ll take your troubles to Jesus, and He’ll give you sweet relief. Farewell! Farewell dear Madeline! There’s none to our hearts more near. It is sad indeed to give you up, but your presence makes heaven more dear. How impatient we’ll be to join you, in that mansion beyond the sky. How happy will be the meeting never more to say ‘Good-bye.’ JESSIE.”
