LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, December 1978: "L. C. (Pete) Brown, 88, of  103 NW 13th died at his residence Thursday, December 14, 1978.  Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, at the Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev Gary Regan and the Rev. David Carr.  Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.  Mr. Brown was born February 26, 1890, in Paris, son of L. P. and Lizzie E. Cooper Brown.  He attended Paris public schools.  He married Kathryn Frances Eversol of Honey Grove in 1910, and she died in 1936.  He later married Mrs. Minnie Neal Baker in 1939, and she died in 1972.  He operated a trailer and wrought iron business in Paris until World War II, when he went to work at Camp Maxey as a shop foreman with the Corp of engineers.  When Camp Maxey closed he went to work for the Texas Pecan Company.  He later worked as a surveyor for Russell Berry until his retirement in 1970.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church.  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Cargile of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Mrs. Mark Hodges of Paris; one son, Howard L. Brown of Waco; three grandchildren, Capt. Mark L. Hodges, Jr.  of Ft. Devins, Massachusetts, Mrs. J. C. Smith of Austin and Mrs. Hicks Haynes of Garland; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy E. Brown of Paris.  Pallbearers were Capt. Mark Hodges, Jr., J. C. Smith, Hicks Haynes, G. I. Hodges, Herb Ordelheide, and Larry Grinstead."
