THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, December 18, 1977, p.16A. 'Mrs. Oscar [J.] Brown, 76, Rt. 2, Sumner, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital. She was injured in an automobile accident on Dec. 8 on FM 79, eight miles northeast of Paris. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Direct Church of Christ with Raymond Coplin officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will make burial in Georgia Cemetery. The body will lie at the church from 3 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 29, 1901, in the Georgia community of Lamar County, a daughter of John W. and Florence Ellen (Ashley) Brackeen. She and Mr. Brown were married in Feb. 1918. Survivors include her husband, one sister, Mrs. Lula Leatherwood of Commerce and several nieces and nephews.'
