Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 06, 2005: 'Clarice Thelma Young Brown, 94, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at ActivCare at Gleneagles, Plano. Graveside rites are set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Evergreen Cemetery, with members of the family participating. The family receives friends from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. She was born at Lake Creek in Delta County on Dec. 20, 1910, to Frances Jane and J. P. 'Frank' Young. She married C. R. Brown in 1935. They had shared almost 57 years of marriage at the time of his death in 1992. She enjoyed things associated with farm life and being a creative homemaker. She was active in 4-H and home demonstration activities and was recognized for her many accomplishments throughout the years. She became a sewing instructor for the Singer Sewing Machine Co., which was a very rewarding experience. Quilting was a real love of hers and she thoroughly enjoyed participation with the Busy Bees quilting group at her church, East Paris Baptist, where she was the last surviving charter member. She hand-pieced and quilted many tops making quilts for herself and members of her family. She also loved sharing her expertise with others. Doing for others was a gift of hers and she considered it a joy to be of help and service, which she did so unselfishly. She shared her Christian faith in a quiet way, but lived it in principle and deed throughout her life. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; and her sister, Mayme Shults; and brothers, Rush, Maurice, Luther and Hobart Young. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Cope, and son-in-law, Bob, of Waxahachie; grandsons and their wives, Ronald and Sandie Cope of Arlington, and Philip and Lisa Cope; and great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Emily, and Robert of Charlotte, N.C. Each of these family members had a special place in her heart. Her family lovingly and devotedly cared for her through these recent years of decline. They were assisted by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Genevieve Anderson of Paris, as well as other extended family, the staff at Colonial Lodge of Paris and the dedicated staff and nurses at ActivCare at Gleneagles in Plano, along with Vista Care Hospice Group. The family is deeply grateful for the support, encouragement and loving care shown by each of these. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 7610 N. Stemmons, Suite 600, Dallas, Texas 75247-4228.'
On the same stone with husband, Lewis C. R. Brown.
