THE PARIS NEWS July, 1988: "Betty Joe Miller Brown, 62, of Dallas, died at her home at 1 p.m. Friday, July 1, 1988. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Littlejohn Cemetery at Chicota with the Rev. Frankie Dawes officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brown was born June 25, 1926, in Pilot Point, a daughter of Harry Hale and Myrtle (Dawes) Hale. she attended Chicota schools and was a 1941 graduate of Chicota High School. She had lived in Dallas since 1941. She was the owner of Frankie's Thrift Shop and was a member of Bill Herard's Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Robert Newman Miller of Dallas and Jesse Richard Miller of Dallas; four grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Gail Miller of Dallas; two uncles, Bill Dawes and Frankie Dawes, both of Chicota; and an aunt, Lucy Skeen of Paris. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Myrtle Joanne Miller, in 1948."
