THE PARIS NEWS Fri., May 7, 1993, p.16A: 'Orby W. Brooks, 87, 2440 E. Price, died Thursday, May 6, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Gaither L. Day and the Rev. Ray Starnes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Brooks was born Feb. 7, 1906, in Gainsville, a son of Floyd M. and Ollie Mae Strong Brooks. He was employed by Staples Jewelry Store and by two local funeral homes. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Builders Class. He served as treasurer of the class and for the XYZs of the church. He attended Gainsville schools. He married Katherine Staples March 14, 1937. Surviving are his wife; a son, Orby Staples Brooks of Dumas; a daughter, Marcy Elizabeth of Silsbee; and five grandchildren.'
