From an old scrapbook, donated by Zoe Hazelwood. Unnamed and undated obituary. "MRS. G. A. BROOKS DIES SATURDAY MORNING AT HER HOME. Mrs. N. J. Brooks, wife of G. A. Brooks of 328 Bonham street, died at her home Saturday morning at 7:20 o’clock. The Rev. Joseph D. Thomas will conduct the funeral service Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Garrett memorial Methodist church, burial to be made at Hopewell cemetery. Emberson-Brown-Roden funeral home has charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Richard Redus and Elmer Parker, Lester Brand of Tyler, Virgil Grant of Kilgore and Charles Brooks of Bagwell. Survivors are Mrs. Brook’s husband and one son, Raymond Brooks of Kilgore and six grandsons. Mrs. Brooks was born in Tennessee, July 18, 1856, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Jordan. She had lived in Paris most of her life and had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood."
