THE PARIS NEWS-Mar.13,1972: Dr. John R. Brittain, who began practicing dentistry here in 1926, died Sunday morning in Baylor Hospital at Dallas. His funeral was arranged for 4p.m., Monday at First Presbyterian Church here, the pastor, the Rev. Sam Rice, officiating. Grant Funeral Home had direction of burial in Highland Cemetery. He was born in Jackson, Tenn., son of John R. and Martha (Randolph) Brittain, but was reared in Paris, attending schools there before graduating from Baylor University College of Dentistry. He had practiced here since then, except for three years in military service during World War II. He was a retired colonel in the Army Reserve, and a former commander or Warren Teague Post, American Legion, here. He and the former Ruby Grant were married in 1929, and she survives, besides several nephews and nieces.
