THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 4 Jun 1981: "Mrs. Mary Lois Briggs, 950 Old Jefferson Road, died Tuesday, 26 May 1981 at her home. Funeral services were held Thursday, 28 May at Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Byers officiated. Mrs. Briggs was born 20 Sep 1928 in Clarendon, a daughter of Thomas Wesley Swint Sr. and Mary Gammons. She married Barney Lee Briggs on 25 Mar 1944. She was retired from the Fort Worth Police Department and had worked in Fort Worth with the Parks and Recreation Department. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Crowe of Austin; one son, Dwain Paul Briggs of North Hollywood, Calif.; her father, Thomas Wesley Swint Sr. of Seagraves; four sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Louise) Foster of Benbrook, Mrs. W.R. (Ethel) Abbott of Paris, Mrs. Joe (Ruby) Chaddick of Deming, N.M. and Mrs. Charles (Nina) Presson of Loop; three brothers, Thomas W. Swint Jr. of Fort Worth, the Rev. John Roy Swint of Miamisburg, Ohio and Dwain Little of Amarillo."
