THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, undated: “Jess Bridges, 83, 0f 435 31st. Street, died Sunday morning, September 18, 1977, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bonham. Funeral Services were held Tuesday morning in the Fry and Gibbs Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Regan officiating. Interment was made in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Mr. Bridges was born in Paris on October 10, 1893, son of T. J. Bridges and Mattie Webb Bridges. He married Miss Louise Wilson in 1919, her death occurring on June 15, 1957. He was retired machinist and a member of Immauel Baptist Church. He was a lifelong resident of Paris. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Cook of Dallas; one son, Jesse W. Bridges of Paris; four grandchildren; and two sisters Mrs. Estelle Barnett of Dallas and Mrs. Lolian Barnett, also of Dallas. Pallbearers were L. C. Johnson, Leonard Meadlin, Wayne Fletcher, Brad Bridges, Paul Payne and Mike Smith.” Submitted by Marry Tallant.
