THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, February 10, 1942, p. 3: “MRS. J. L. BRAND. Mrs. J. L. Brand of 483 Graham St., passed away Tuesday at 8:10 a.m. at the Sanitarium of Paris where she was a patient. Funeral arrangements had not been announced at noon Tuesday according to Brown-Roden Funeral Home.”
THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, February 10, 1942, p. 3: “Mrs. J. L. Brand Dies Here Early Tuesday; Funeral Wednesday. Death of Mrs. J. L. Brand 483 Graham St., occurred Tuesday at 8:10 a.m. at the Sanitarium of Paris. Funeral service was arranged for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Roden Funeral Home, conducted by W. R. Zimmerman of Garrett Memorial Church with interment in Hopewell Cemetery. Charles Whitley, T. Bryant, N. F. Walker, Gaither Rodgers, Earl Dale and E. E. Bills were named pallbearers. Mrs. Brand was born at Sulphur Springs, Feb. 3, 1861, daughter of John H. Minton. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Brooks of Kilgore and these sons: R. V. and Ennis Brand, Paris; Roy F. Brand, Houston, and C. W. Brand, San Antonio; a sister, Mrs. Nora Daugherty, Houston and five grandchildren.”
