Notes
There is a marker beside this one that has an arrow on it beside the name “Ratchell Bramlett” pointing to this headstone which is that of Rachel Bramlett who married S. C. Bramlett. No dates. There is another name scratched in the stone below Ratchell’s. It appears to be MENDJ Bramlett and some dates are scratched beside the name. The dates are very hard to read. Buried near Sarah E. Lentz.
Information from Brenda Hoffman, Sumner, TX, bghoffman@suddenlink.net, 16 Feb 2012: Rachel is the wife of S. C. Bramlett. He is buried at Brackeen cemetery, southwest of Paris, TX.
Information from Beverly Fortner, t.fortner@suddenlink.net, 8 Jun 2012: The marker in the picture is actually the stone of Arminda “Mendy” Bramlett, the daughter of Rachel Bramlett. It is located next to Rachel Bramlett’s stone and has an arrow pointing to her mother’s stone. A new stone has been placed in front of Arminda’s stone and in front of Rachel’s stone to clarify the names, etc. Rachel died in childbirth and the baby quickly followed. They are buried together. Samuel Calhoun (S.C.) Bramlett husband of Rachel and father of Arminda is buried in Brackeen Cemetery.
Information from Beverly Fortner, t.fortner@suddenlink.net, 05/13/2016: S. C. (Samuel Calhoun) Bramlett was my grandfather. He is buried in Brackeen Cemetery. The stone at Antioch is that of his first wife Rachel. The crumbling stone says “wife of S. C. Bramlett.”
Tombstone is inscribed, “Wife of S. C. Bramlett.“ Headstone is broken and very hard to read.
