THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 06, 2005: 'Virginia Lee Boyd, 92, of Newton, Kan., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Chicota Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cynthia Davenport-Herbst officiating. Burial follows in Chicota Presbyterian Cemetery. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. She was born July 7, 1912, in Chicota to M. T. and Effie McEwin Lee. She married Lewis Carroll Boyd Sr. in Madill, Okla., on July 15, 1933. He died Aug. 15, 1982. She attended Wichita State University where she received her master's degree in library science. She then was employed as a teacher in the public school system and also at St. Mary's Catholic Schools, both in Newton. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, A.A.U.W., Kansas Retired Teacher's Association, Aldine Club, Lady Lioness and American Library Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Bill Lee and Porter Lee. She is survived by her daughter, James Owozarzak of San Jose, Calif.; two sons, Lewis C. Boyd of Grayslake, Ill., and Bill Boyd of Statesville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.'
