Lacy; date of funeral 3 Apr 1916; place of death, Philadelphia, PA; from 3:20 pm Frisco; Clergyman, Kendall, but did not come; cause of death, Endocarditis; Widower, age 79; body shipped to Paris in Baker vault; interment at Evergreen; hearse & casket wagon $10.00; 2 carriages $7.00; coach $5.00; open grave $6.00; pad $1.00; services $5.00; Total $34.00. 'Was shipped in Baker vault, so would not use funeral carriage. Used wagon instead'.

From an undated-unnamed newspaper obituary clipping from 'The Paris Scrapbook' donated by Skipper Steely; Handwritten date; April 1, 1916. 'Col. Tom M. Bowers, well known in Paris and for years a newspaper editor in east and north Texas, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. C. Downs, in Philadelphia. The body will be brought to Paris Monday afternoon at 3:20 on the Frisco, for burial at Evergreen. The funeral will be direct from the train. Tom M. Bowers, Jr. will accompany the body. He is also well known here, where his young manhood was spent, and he will meet many old friends to share his sorrow. Col. Bowers had been in ill health for several years and about one year ago went to Philadelphia to spend his remaining days with his daughter.'
