THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 4 Jun 1987: “Charley E. Bowers, 935-5th NE, died Monday, May 25, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bonham. Services were held Friday, May 29, in Maxey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A. M. Seamon officiating. Burial was in Littlejohn Cemetery. Mr. Bowers was born Dec. 18, 1894, in Clarksville, a son of Henry and Margaret Mickens Bowers. He was a graduate of Prairie View A&M College and a veteran of World War I. He was retired from the civil service. Surviving are a sister, Ophelia Henderson of Paris; three nieces, Clifton Davis of Paris, Bernice Collins of Paris and Theresa Rogan of Hugo, Okla.; and a nephew, L. M. Bowers of Clarksville.” Submitted by Carol Campbell.
