Notes

From materials and a picture donated to the genealogical library in 1995 by Thelma Jean Day: "Mr. Thomas Earl Bowens died in Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Gary, IN July 19, 1975. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in Maxey Funeral Home Chapel here with the Rev. C.O. Espie and the Rev. C.H. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery. Mr. Bowens was a son of Clarence and Virginia Morris Bowens. He attended Gibbons Elementary and Middle School here in Paris and graduated from the Tollerston High School in Gary IN. He served 24 months in the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged. He was a technical worker in the U.S. Steel Plant in Gary, IN. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother and father; one son, Thomas Earl Bowens, II; one half-brother, Clarence Eugene Wright of Dallas; one aunt, Mrs. Fairy Turney of Cincinnati, OH; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. (Jack) Morris of Paris."

Tombstone is inscribed, "SP4 US Army - Vietnam."
