THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, June 22, 1938, p. 2: “DEATH CALLS MRS. MATTIE BLEDSOE. Mrs. Mattie Bledsoe of 302 Thirtieth street, died 3:25 o’clock Wednesday at her home after a short illness. She was 69 years old. The funeral service was arranged for 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at Emberson-Brown-Roden funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Forrest E. Johnson of Ramseur Baptist tabernacle, with interment at Forest Hill cemetery, north of Petty. Roy, Tom and Ed Shope of Honey Grove; Dewey Robinson, Mose Bledsoe and Leon Steelman were named pallbearers. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Edmond Tigert, Mrs. G. H. Maness and W. C. Bledsoe, all of Paris, and five grandchildren.”
