LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, March 3, 1983, p. 4: "Jack L. Blankenship, 2895 Lewis Lane, died at McCuistion Medical Center Tuesday, Feb. 22. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. James Barnes officiating. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mr. Blankenship was born Sept. 2, 1904, in Lamar county, a son of Willis Blankenship and Ellis Locke Blankenship. He was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church. Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Rena Avery of Paris; several cousins including Mrs. Virgie Anderson and C. E. Locke, both of Paris. Bearers were J. L. Bailey, Cleburn Bridges, Howard Reeves, Robert Skidmore, and Wilburn Brown."
Tombstone is inscribed, "J. L. Blankinship" with only one date - 9 Sep 1905. Buried next to Mary E. Blankenship.
