THE PARIS NEWS, Apr. 14, 2002: "Elsie Lee Collins Blankinship, 92, of Midland died Thursday, April 11, 2002 in a Midland hospital. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Travis Baptist Church in Midland with Rev. J. B. Shewmake, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris with Rev. Randal Scott, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Blankinship was born Aug. 5, 1909 in Tiger Town and married Weldon Blankinship in May 1954 in Crane. A resident of Midland since 1954, she had worked as a bookkeeper out of her home until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Travis Baptist Church in Midland. She is survived by her husband, Weldon Blankinship of Midland; one sister, Helen Morrison of Lafayette, La.; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made to Gideon’s International."
