THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, June 2, 1941, p. 8: “Death of Mike Blackburn, Paris, Rt. 1, occurred at his home in Reno community, Sunday at 5:20 a.m. after a week’s illness. He was born November 24, 1858 [sic], in Tennessee, and had been a farmer in this county many years. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Methodist Church at Reno, conducted by the Rev. M. A. Stout, Methodist pastor at Avery, with interment by Brown-Roden Funeral Home at Union Grove Cemetery, grandsons being pallbearers. He leaves his wife, Samantha, and these children, John, Clarence and Walter Blackburn, Reno; Claude Blackburn, Paris; Clyde Blackburn, Sylvan; Mrs. Maude King, Longview; Mrs. Tommie Secrest, Pattonville; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.” Submitted by Jo Graf.
