LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, February 3, 1983, p. 4. 'Mrs. Frank William (Velma) Blackbourn, of Starkville, Miss., died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in Starkville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Blossom, with the Rev. Jerry Putnam officiating. Burial will be in the Knights of Honor cemetery in Blossom. Mrs. Blackbourn was born Nov. 10, 1895, a daughter of Snowden H. Maddux and Paralee Castle Maddux. She was married to Frank [William] Blackbourn Oct. 24, 1916 in Blossom. He died Sept. 12, 1981. The couple had lived in Blossom until three years ago when they moved to Starkville to be with their son. Survivors include two sons, Frank William Blackbourn Jr. of Monroe, La., and Dr. Joe M. Blackbourn of Starkville, Miss.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.'
