Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, June 23, 1976: “Leonard Black of 1640 W. Walker St, died Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:30 at Maxey Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. C. D. Hilburn, pastor of Johnson Chapel CME church, will officiate with interment in LittleJohn Cemetery. Mr. Black was born June 6, 1908 in Lamar County, the son of the late Sam and Julie Ann Morgan Black. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Maella Black; one son, Jessie Black; two daughters, Dorothy Mae Black and Katherine Black, all of Paris; and seven grandchildren.” Submitted by Carol Campbell.
On the same stone with Maella Black. Also has a military marker inscribed, "STM 3 US Navy - World War II.”
