THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 19 Oct 1989. 'John Henry Black, 83, 962 E. Cherry, died Monday, 9 Oct 1989, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be held Saturday, 14 Oct, at 2:30 p.m. at the Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery by Maxey Funeral Home. Mr. Black was born 25 Dec 1905, in Lamar County, a son of Lige L. and Anna Mitchell Black. He attended Lamar County schools and was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Helen; four sons, Bobby Lee Black, John Robert Black, Tommy Lee Black and Gene Autry Black, all of Paris; three daughters, Dixie Helen Burns, Mae Helen Buckner and Mary Geneva Black, all of Paris; and an uncle, Henry Mitchell of Dallas. He was preceded in death by a son, L.J. Black.'
