THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 24 Mar 1988. 'Funeral services for Hughie Black, 76, 1004 E. Washington, were held Friday, 18 Mar, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Black died Sunday, 13 Mar 1988, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born 16 May 1911 [sic], in Independence County, Ark., a son of Herbert A. and Flora Gennings Black. He married Eddie Margaret Locke on 1 Aug 1936, in Hugo, Okla. He was a retired route driver for Tom's Peanuts and was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church and its Goodwill Sunday school class. Surviving are his wife; a son, Bill Black of Powderly; a daughter, Brenda Heckman of Danielsville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.' Buried next to Ruby Juanita Byers.
