THE PARIS NEWS-Dec.28,2012: EDDIE MARGARET LOUELLA LOCKE BLACK 97, of Paris, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Paris Regional Medical Center ? North. A graveside service is set for 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Mackey officiating. There is no formal visitation hour to be observed. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Eddie was born on December 22, 1915 in Biardstown to Willie Freeman and Elise Louella Richardson Locke. She married Hughie Auvery Black on August 1, 1936 in Hugo. She taught school in Ambia until the birth of her first child and after the birth of her third child, she went to work at Sears and Roebuck where she worked until 1952 when she returned to school to complete her teaching certificate. She received her degree in Elementary Education from East Texas State University. In 1956, she began teaching the 5th and 6th grades for the Cunningham School District. She also taught for the Prairieland School District in Blossom, teaching the second grade before retiring in 1980 after 24 years of teaching. She was a member of Garrett Memorial Methodist Church, now Oak Park Methodist Church, since 1952.
She was a loving mother and mother-in-law to Billy Hugh and Iris Delozier Black of Powderly and Brenda June Black Heckman of Walnutport, Pennsylvania. She is survived by six grandchildren, Beckie Black Corriston and husband, Howard, Dell Denise Hamil and husband, Durrel, Kara Black Mackey and husband, Bryan, Kala Black Moore and husband, Ross, Sean Heckman and wife, Tanya, and Stephanie Heckman; fourteen great-grandchildren, Crysta Lamb, Craig Corriston, Candace Parker Hicks and husband, Brandon, Billy Hugh Doyle, Lauren, Kaylan, Roan and Judah Moore, Hope and Hayes Mackey, Noah, Juliette and Savanna Heckman, and Logan Easterday; eight great-great-grandchildren, Colton and Brailey Hicks, Caleb, Ethan, Cannan, and Eli Doyle, and Ava and Luke Lamb; and a niece, nephew, and several great-nieces and great- nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Charles Ray Black; and a grandson, Michael N. Black.
