THE PARIS NEWS, (Date of obituary not available.) W.W. Biard, 95, member of Biardstown community's founding family, died here Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital. In the grocery business in Paris from 1906 to 1935, Mr. Biard, until he was 90, had for many years impersonated Santa Claus for Paris merchants and organizations, without pay. He had been living for some time at the Gibraltar Hotel here. His body will be in First Christian Church here Thursday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. when the pastor, the Rev. Don White, will officiate. Delta Funeral Home of Cooper has direction of services, burial to be made in Evergreen Cemetery here. Mr. Biard had been a deacon and an elder of First Christian Church. Born at Biardstown, 9 Nov 1872, William Winburn Biard was a son of Thomas Jefferson Biard and his wife, who was Nancy Ann (Nannie) Crowder. He married the former Mattie Lindsay, 26 Jul 1896, her death occurring 13 Sep 1953. He leaves one son, Philip W. Biard, and a grandson, Philip W. Biard Jr., both of East Orange, N.J. Mr Biard was a longtime partner in the old Ballinger and Biard Grocery here, and after his retirement, in the late 1930s, he was cashier for his son's nightclub in New Jersey, and in his scrapbook, along with pictures of himself as Santa Claus with various Paris youngsters on his knee, are photographs and greetings from many of the big-name band leaders he met at the club, addressed to Philip's 'Dad.'
