THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, October 28, 1987: "Raphael S. Biard Jr., 717-8th SE, died at the Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard Kelly of Faith Presbyterian Church officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 pm. Thursday at the funeral home.  Mr. Biard was born Aug 11, 1933, in Paris, a son of R. S. and Alice Herndon Biard.  He attended St. Joseph's Academy in Paris and public schools in Clarksville.  He was a graduate of Austin College and received a master's degree from East Texas State University.  He taught school at Honey Grove, Electra, Houston and San Antonio before teaching at Kaufman Elementary School for the past 20 years.  He was a member of the Kaufman Rotary Club and the Texas State Teachers Association.  He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Paris.  Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Katherine Biard of Paris; one niece, Elizabeth Biard of Irving; two nephews, Rick Biard of San Antonio and Scott Biard of Amarillo; an aunt, Rebecca Biard Herring of Paris; and seven great-nieces and nephews."  Transcribed by Carol Campbell.

Buried next to David G. Flenniken. Tombstone is inscribed, "Teacher."
