LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, October 1977: "Rufus Bevill, 91, of 654 SE 9th, died Saturday, October 1, 1977, at his home. Funeral services were held Monday morning in the Fry Gibbs Chapel with Dr. James Semple, pastor of first Baptist Church officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Bevill was born in Reno on April 27, 1886, son of R. L. Bevill and Martha Kimball Bevill. He attended schools in Reno and the old East Texas Normal College at Commerce, and taught school for a number of years in Lamar County. He married Miss Anna Horn of Deport, whose death occurred Feb. 1, 1970, and they lived in Paris since 1929. he was a member of the First Baptist Church and its Adult Sunday School Class. He was a longtime member of the Deport Masonic Lodge having received his 50-year pin in 1966. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Jenkins of Paris, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Herbert Martin, Dewitt Moore, Paul Nash, Ralph Eubank, Jess Osborne and Hollie Jenkins."
