THE PARIS NEWS-Apr.24,1985-Joe Lee Betterton of Deport died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Grant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Renfro and Rev. Jim Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Betterton was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Madill, a son of J.W. and Hattie Vita Ashford Betterton. He married the former Edna Mae Franks in 1933. She preceded him in death in October 1962. He then married Mildred Williamson Smallwood in 1968. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1984. Survivors include one son, Boyd Betterton of Bay town; one daughter, Mrs. William (Jodell) Cooper of Cunningham; two brothers, Marvin Betterton and Tilden Betterton, both of Deport; one sister, Mrs. Alpha Barnard of Deport; seven grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
