From an undated-unnamed newspaper obituary clipping from ‘The Paris Scrapbook’ donated by Skipper Steely: "Ed Berger died at 6 o’clock yesterday afternoon in Fort Worth, the result of an accident in the Houston & Texas Central yards in which he lost his left foot, a few days ago. The body will be brought here on the Texas & Pacific train at 3 o’clock this afternoon, and will be taken to the home of George Adams, 1012 Bonham street, West Paris. The funeral will take place there tomorrow morning, the hour being not yet determined. The burial will be conducted by Paris Commandery No. 9, Knights Templar, of which Mr. Berger was a member. Ed Berger came here several years ago, and for a long time had charge of the Frisco pump in the local yards. He was a hard working, steady man, popular with his friends and standing well in the community. About three years ago he went to Fort Worth, and entered the employ of the H. & T. C. While working in the yards there he attempted to make a coupling, and missed it and fell under the wheels, which mashed his left foot so badly it had to be taken off. He was not thought to be fatally injured, but took a turn for the worse, and passed away yesterday afternoon, He leaves a wife, but had no children."

On the same stone with Maude Berger.
