THE PARIS NEWS, 11 Mar 1959: 'Tom C. Bentley, 628 Clarksville St., former fire marshal of Paris, died of a heart attack at home Wednesday about 7:45 p.m. He was born in Emberson community, 29 Jan 1889, son of the late Thomas B. and Sophronia Bentley, and had been city water treatment operator before serving as fire marshal several years ago. He had attended Sumner High School and Trinity University. The funeral, Friday at 4 p.m., will be held at Fry and Gibbs chapel by the Rev. Melvile D. Nesbit of Central Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, and Elmer L'Roy, Church of Christ minister. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Thomas Clay Bentley married Miss Emogene Roundtree in 1907 at Commerce, and she survives, besides a daughter, Dr. Iogene Bentley, dean of women at North Texas State College, Denton; a son, Tom R. Bentley, Cleburne; three grandchildren, and these sisters: Mrs. Clint Dodson, Sumner; Mrs. Isom Johnston, DeKalb; Mrs. Ethel McEwin and Mrs. John Montague, Amarillo; Mrs. Harry Burden, Pampa, and Mrs. W. P. Ritchie, Paris.' On the same stone with Emogene R. Bentley. Buried next to J. K. Moss. Tombstone is inscribed, 'Thomas C. Bentley.'
