LAMAR COUNTY ECHO Thu., Mar. 14. 1985: "Mrs. Maudie Lee Bennett, wife of Ellis Bennett, of Roxton, died at 1:32 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at McCuistion Medical Center. Services were held Thursday, March 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Roxton with Rev Glenn Blackmon officiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home made burial in Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Bennett was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Roxton, a daughter of Gilbert Gentry and Essie Winn Gentry. She attended Roxton schools and married Ellis Bennett on Dec. 26, 1931, in Roxton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Roxton and of its Women’s Bible Class. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Barbara LeFlore Herndon of Arlington, Mrs. Hazel Owen of Texarkana, AR. and Mrs. Margaret George of San Antonio; two sons, Jerry Bennett of Roxton and Gilbert Bennett of Sulphur Springs; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Gentry of Fort Worth."
