THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, January 19, 1947, Pg. 11: “Death of Miss Jo Bennett, 93, resident of Lamar County since she was seven years old, occurred Friday at 6;30 p.m. in Gladewater, at the home of a niece, Mrs. S. A. Slade, where she had gone recently. Robert G. Cook will conduct the funeral here at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ, where the body will be taken at 1 p.m., the funeral being set for 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery by Manton-Fry Funeral Home. She was born in Meridian, Miss., June 16, 1853, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Bennett. She had been a member of the Church of Christ 74 years. Surviving are eight nephews and 10 nieces, among them Mrs. G. C. Wheeler, Mrs. Thomas Lenoir and Mrs. Lee Morgan of Paris, and Mrs. Slade of Gladwater.”
