THE PARIS MORNING NEWS, Thursday, July 5, 1917, p. 5: "DEATH OF MRS. BENNETT AT THE INFIRMARY -- Mrs. Gertrude Bennett, the wife of A. G. Bennett, a well known resident of Paris, died between 2 and 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph's Infirmary, to which place she was taken last week to undergo an operation. At the time she was operated on the doctors stated that it was of such a serious nature that there was not very much hope for her recovery, but although it was expected the tidings of her death will cause sorrow among many lifelong friends. She was fifty-eight years old and was born and reared in Lamar county, being a daughter of J. C. McGlasson, a pioneer settler who came here from Virginia in 1851 and located near the present site of Roxton. She is survived by her husband and two children, Carl Bennett of Chicago and Miss Rebecca Bennett. She was very anxious to see her son before her death and struggled bravely to hold out until he could reach her bedside, but her strength failed. He cannot reach here until this afternoon. Besides her own family she is survived by her mother and by six brothers, two of whom, C. W. and E. G. McGlasson, live at Roxton, Ernest H. and F. E. McGlasson in Paris, Dr. W. E. McGlasson at Yowell and T. P. McGlasson at Checotah Ok. The funeral will be held from the late residence of the deceased at 5 o'clock this afternoon and will be conducted by Revs. R. P. Shuler and Tom J. Beckham. The burial will be at Evergreen cemetery. The ladies of the Eastern Star are requested to meet at their hall at 4 o'clock for the purpose of attending the funeral."
On the same stone with A. G. Bennett.
