THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, 1 Jul 1970, p. 5: “O. L. Benefield - O. L. Benefield, 77, a retired farmer-rancher of Rt. 2, Sumner, died unexpectedly of a heart attack about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, while attending his wife, reported seriously ill at Pleasant Grove Nursing Home. Born March 6, 1897, at Havana, Ark., O. L. Benefield married the former Mettie [Hettie] Rich in 1915, and they moved here from Russellville, Ark., in 1966. He was a life member of the Woodmen of the World. Besides his wife, survivors are a son, Robert D. Benefield, Morton; four grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura McMahan and Mrs. Lula Owens, both of Dallas. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of services.”
