THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, 3 Jul 1970, p. 7: "Benefield Rites - Double funeral service for Mrs. O. L. Benefield, 68, of Rt. 2, Sumner, who died Thursday at 12:15 p.m., and her husband, who expired early Wednesday, will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Georgia community church, where the bodies will lie for an hour before the service, the Rev. Jerry Moore to officiate. Friends will be received between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Friday at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris. The burials will be made in Georgia cemetery. Mrs. Benefield was critically ill at Pleasant Grove Nursing Home here, where her husband was attending her, when he was stricken by a fatal heart attack, and she died there also, about 36 hours later. Mr. Benefield was born in Havana, Ark., March 6, 1897, and his wife, the former Hettie Rich, at Mount Pleasant. Tex., Oct. 9, 1901. They were married Nov. 16, 1916, and had moved here five years ago from Arkansas. They leave one son, Robert D. Benefield of Morton; and 11 other descendants. Mr. Benefield's survivors including also two sisters, Mrs. Laura McMahan and and Mrs. Lula Owens, both of Dallas. Mrs. Benefield leaves one sister, Mrs. Agnes Browder of Azle."
