THE PARIS NEWS, December 7, 2017: “Margie Wilson Bell, 97 of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Celebrants will be Father Craig Reed and Father C. Jeff Kraemer. Private family burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Bell will lie in state at Holy Cross from 3 p.m. on Friday till service time, Saturday. There will be a visitation, at the church, from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017. During the visitation the family will be in the parish hall. Born Jan. 9, 1920, on the family farm in Ambia, Texas, Margie Wilson Bell spent her early years blazing a trail through downtown Paris, Texas, on her pony. She was the daughter of Ralph and Erma Wilson. Margie attended the Paris public school system and graduated from Paris High School in 1936. She was too young to attend college at that time and worked in her family grocery store located behind the current Farmer’s Market in downtown Paris. She attended the University of Texas in Austin starting in 1938. She arrived in Austin in her 1938 Packard convertible with her horse Lady Sharon. She graduated the University of Texas in 1942 and returned home to Paris, Texas. Her father, Ralph, had purchased a house on Church Street in 1940. She lived in this house with her family. This was during the start of World War II, and her father would invite soldiers that were stationed at Camp Maxey to the house on Church Street for dinner. This is how Margie met her husband, Nathan James Bell III. They were married at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on June 8, 1944. They welcomed their first son, Nathan James Bell IV, Jim, in July of 1946. Daughter Janet was born June 8, 1949, and son Gary Bell, Jan. 14, 1953. During this time Margie and Nathan were busy building their business, Nathan Bell Realtors. They worked this business together hand-in-hand until Nathan passed away September 1992. Margie continued with the business working diligently every week until February 2017. Margie and her husband were long-time contributors to building the community of Paris, Texas. Margie is survived by her son, Jim Bell and his wife, Pat; her daughter, Janet Bell Grammar and her husband, Tim; and son, Gary Bell. She’s also survived by six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. If you prefer, donations in her memory may be made to Paris Junior College, the Downtown Food Pantry, Trinity Christian Academy, Holy Cross Church or the charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of the Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.” Submitted by Tina Vickery.

On the same stone with Nathan James Bell, III.
