Notes
May 19, 1971; Hugh Bell, formerly of Lamar County, who lived at Monahans died May 14, 1971 in an Odessa hospital. He was an employee of Halliburton Oil Company. Funeral services were held May 17 in Calvary Baptist Church at Monahans with burial being made in East Post Oak Cemetery, northeast of Paris. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John Melton and a grandson; also a sister, Mrs. W.C. Alford, Odessa and two brothers, Roy Bell, Dallas; and Jimmy Bell, Mount Vernon.
From “It Happened In Post Oak” by Johnie Lee: John Hugh Bell was married to Evelyn Walden. (Evelyn is buried in Mississippi). They had one daughter: Barbara Lou Bell Melton. She lives in Crestview, Florida.
On the same stone with Evelyn L. Bell. Also has a military marker inscribed, “Texas - AS US Navy - World War II.” Inscription: “Their Daughter, Barbara.”
