THE PARIS NEWS, 27 Feb 1963: 'Mrs. T. E. Belew, 79, of 210 8th NE, died of illness Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Sanitarium of Paris. She was the oldest living registered nurse in this area. Funeral services were announced for 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Fry and Gibbs chapel, the Rev. John Shuler and the Rev. James E. Jones, both of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was arranged in Evergreen Cemetery. Surviving are a son, Eugene M. Belew, Paris; eight other descendants, and two sisters, Mrs. Vesta Hardy, Paris, Rt. 5, and Mrs. F. H. E. Koopman, Fort Wayne, Ind., and several nieces and nephews, three of whom she reared. The former Stella Pearl Maxwell, daughter of Charles M. and Rilla (Shinn) Maxwell, Mrs. Belew was born at Kinghtstown, Ind., 6 Nov 1883, and was married to T. E. [Thomas Evan] Belew, 24 Sep 1911. His death occurred 27 Jan 1948. She attended Knightstown and Fort Wayne, Ind. schools, and received nurse training at old Ables Hospital in Texarkana, coming to Paris in 1910. She began as a nurse here at old Aikin Hospital, forerunner of Lamar Medical Center. She was a life member of First Methodist Church WSCS, longtime secretary of the Friendship Class, and former member of Lamar Study Club and the Eastern Star.'
