THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, April 16, 1934, p. 3: "JOHN BECKER DIES SUNDAY. John Becker died Sunday nigth at 9:30 o'clock at his home, 353 Graham street, following a stroke several days earlier. A native of Germany, Mr. Becker had come to Paris forty years ago to work for the Frisco railroad and had made his home here ever since. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Victory church, the requiem high mass being said by the Rev. F. J. Schiessi. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery ad the pallbearers will be John O'Brien, Mike Bateman, M. N. Emerson, F. F. Floyd, Will Diggs and Ernest Hollje. Mr. Becker's widow, Mrs. Josephine Becker survive him beside three daughters, Mmes. Walter Beasley, George Logan, and Aulich Miles, all of Paris, and four sons, Albert John and Joe Becker of El Paso and Henry Becker of San Antonio. He also leaves seven grand children. Known to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances as "Uncle John", Mr. Becker was identified with railroad work during his residence here, and was affiliated with the Woodmen of the World. He was born in Ralengan, Germany, on August 27, 1851, and came to the United States sixty years ago."

Information from Norma Alexander, normaalex@juno.com, 16 Apr 2012: Anna Becker b. 1838, Ralengan, Germany, married John Stephensky b. Rehlinger Co. Bavaria, Germany (changed name to Stephenson after coming to Texas ca. 1880). Children: Peter L., John, Mathew, Jacob, Henry, Lucy, James P.  Numerous decendants are buried at Union Grove Cemetery, Reno TX, which was quite near the land of their homesite.  Annie's brother, John Becker, b. 1851, Ralengan, Germany, also came to Texas, with his wife, Josephine Rohr-Becker. Both are interred at Evergreen Cemetery, Paris, TX. Children: Anna, Briska (Mary), Thora, John, Albert, Joe, Henry. When these immigrants arrived, John Stephensky's sister, Catharine "Kate" Stephensky-Miesch, b. 11-20-1832 Bavaria, Germany, was already living in Clarksville, TX with her husband Micheal Miesch, b. 11-3-1827 Wittlesheim, Alsace. They are both interred at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Clarksville, TX. Sources: "Miesch Letters" of Micheal Meisch, written family records passed down.
