THE PARIS NEWS, Thu., Aug. 22, 1996, p.12A. '(Picture) William Love Beard Jr, 85, of Powderly died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1996, at Cherry Street Annex. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Beard was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Paris, a son of William Love and Eudora Bradley Beard. He was a member of the Powderly Baptist Church. He was a traveling salesman for 49 years, working for Pete Humphries Grocery, White Swan Grocery and Lily Sales. He served on the board of Powderly and North Lamar schools for 26 years until retiring in 1980. He married Martha Pearl Phillips April 9, 1934, in Antlers, OK. She preceded him death on Feb. 28, 1996. Surviving are four children, Jane Whitesides of Memphis, TN, Peggy Stinson, Billy Beard and Susan Snodgrass, all of Paris; a daughter-in-law, Gradie Marie Beard; two sons-in-law, Hurshell Stinson and Chris L. Snodgrass; two brothers, Ralph Beard and Bob Beard, both of Paris; two sisters, Marguerite Beard and Virginia Watson, both of Paris; 11 grandchildren, Cynthia Byrd, Nancy Clark, Pam Golding, Misti Clark, Jamie Galyon, Tammy Nichols, Eric Snodgrass, Shelley Lackie, Wendy Stinson, Bradley Snodgrass and Patrick Snodgrass; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Beard, and a sister, Mable Haley. Pallbearers will be Steve Byrd, Kerry Clark, Mike Golding, Jeff Lackie, Scott Galyon, Lat Nichols and Mike Clark.'
