THE PARIS NEWS, April, 1982: “Mrs. F. M. Beard, Apartment 603 Highway Village, Cooper, formerly of Paris, died Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Gene Roden’s Sons Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Beard was born Nov. 10, 1901 in Red River County, daughter of Benjamin F. and Evelena Nelms. She married F. M. Beard in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by three sons, Jack Beard of Sweeney; Fred Beard of Abilene and Ben Beard of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Mrs. L. E. (Ruby) Bridges of Cooper; Mrs. H. E. (Mary) Bridges of Clute; and Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Holcomb of Cooper; one sister, Mrs. Essie O’Neil of Clarkvsille; two brothers, J. K. Nelms and Tom Nelms, both of Mercedes; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home. The family will be gathering at the Holcomb residence at 1405 Circle Drive in Cooper.”  Transcribed by Carol Campbell

THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, April 30, 1982: "Beard funeral. Funeral services for Mrs. F. M. Beard of Cooper were conducted Monday in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Solice officiated. Bearers were Ricky Beard, Jason Holcomb, Jackie Beard, Billy Bridges, Kenny Bridges and Lynn Brides. Mrs. Beard died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
